About Joe Chacon, your Operation Sports Blogger Stuck
Posted on May 23, 2012 at 02:14 AM.

I'm excited to have been brought on board by Operation Sports to give you a fresh take on the world of sports.

Before the Sports Blog gets rolling, I wanted to take a minute to give you an idea of who I am.

I've lived my life in Southern California, more specifically, Redondo Beach. I am what many would call a career college student, and my long college journey has proved to be ... well ... long. I've taken courses towards just about every degree you can think of: business, computer science, journalism, video editing, communications and finally, liberal studies. College has made me a more well-rounded person, but I do wish I would have focused on my two passions right out of high school: writing and teaching.

While the college experience has been going at a snail's pace, the core of my life went at an accelerated one. In 2003, I met my wife; married in '04; had out first child in '05. Now, 8 years later, we have two girls and a foundation in place to last a lifetime.

My favorite teams are the Dodgers, Lakers, LA Kings, Rams and the USC Trojans. While I will always pull for my team, I will not come across as a "homer" in my writing.

Think about the voices Los Angeles has been fortunate to have over the years. Chick Hearn (Lakers), Vin Scully (Dodgers, and Bob Miller (Kings). Not only do they provide a great play-by-play commentary, but if you didn't know what team they were broadcasting for, you wouldn't figure it out during the game.

They provide an unbiased presentation of the game, and that is how I would like my articles to come across. Nothing is worse than debating a writer on what they wrote, only to have them dismiss everything negative said about "their" team.

I have a huge interest in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Not only the major promotions, but also the amateur circuit and smaller pro events around the country.

I now take my passion to Operation Sports, and I look forward to interacting with each of you.

It is so heartwarming to see a fellow south bay-er write for such a prestigious site. I live on the border of Torrance/Redondo and shall be cheering you on throughout your whole blogging career. Best of luck to ya! Btw, how 'bout them Kings?

Welcome.

It's always awesome to see more big MMA fans in positions like this. I myself have been a huge fan for years (Both main and smaller promotions... We don't really have much of an amateur scene here in Ontario, Canada yet, at least that I'm aware of). In fact, I'm going to be on a flight to Vegas for the TUF Live finale in less than a week.

Hope you like it hear Joe. I don't know if you remember but on your League Den NBA 2K12 association it's me, Paul. The one who was the Denver Nuggets and did not play most of my games. Oh well, that was in the past and I'm over it now. I hope your time on here is not as spotty as it has been for me. If you don't know I'm a HUGE basketball fan and I hope for the best on this site.

I really appreciate the warm welcome from you all.

@bellaballa It's always great to come across somebody on the web who lives in the South Bay. Immediately we have so much in common. Your "cheers" are important to me and I look forward to conversing with you down the road. As far as the Kings go, it still doesn't feel real. When you consider the success (or lack thereof) of the franchise since 1993, it makes this Cup run even more special. Go Kings Go!

@mcmax3000 I've written close to 100 MMA articles for Bleacher Report over the last six months. Even though I can write for days on the four major sports, I consider MMA my bread and butter. You can count on me to bring a lot of MMA material to Operation Sports. The TUF Live show should be a good one. I think Faber is going to get dominated by Barao, although I would love to see the California Kid win.

@Tallpaul Hey Paul, of course I remember you. That 2k12 league was running great. I stepped away for a month and when I came back the whole league was defunct. I really appreciate your comment. I have a Western Conference Finals Preview coming up to get things started for the weekend. We'll be in touch.
